About us.

Working collaboratively, as RMIT student journalists we are looking to encapsulate the Australian landscape, and ask the question; Should Australia become a republic?  

This project is a collaborative work encompassing a controversial and multifaceted issue currently facing the Australian political landscape. As a group we wanted to present multiple views, and answer specific questions that may help educate young Australians on the question of whether Australia should severe ties with the British Monarchy.

While this is presented as an independant online publication/blog it would be pitched as a series of pieces that could be used by media outlets such as the Guardian or the ABC. 

MEET THE TEAM.

Joel Kennedy (Contributor)

In my second year, studying a bachelor of professional Communications majoring in Journalism studies and minoring in Politics. Within this task, I am eager to dive into the evolution of Australia and the republic debate.

Harper Sercombe (Contributor) ​

Currently finishing the second year studying a Bachelor of Professional Communications majoring in Journalism and minoring in Politics. Within this topic I was able to explore what a referendum is and what is needed for it to pass. 

Jada Cannizzo (Contributor)

Coming to the end of my second year studying a Bachelor of Professional Communications majoring in Journalism, with a minor in Politics. With this topic, I was interested to investigate why the previous referendum on this topic failed and if Australia has changed since then.

Hannah Robbins (Contributor)​

Currently in my second year of the Bachelor of Professional Communications majoring in Journalism with a minor in Politics. I am interested in the future of Australian politics and I enjoyed exploring the possibility of becoming a republic.

Maya Duggan (Contributor)

Also coming to the end of my second year of the Bachelor of Professional Communications majoring in Journalism and a minor in literature. This topic has allowed me to learn more about Australia's government and current political position, whilst encouraging me to improve my writing and editing skills.
